CREATING/CONVERSATIONS No. 5: THE SOCIAL GOOD

Creating/Conversations is an event series for creatives hosted by Carolyn Misterek at the MATINE studio.

Conversation 05: THE SOCIAL GOOD
Creating/Conversations No. 5 is all about using our creativity for social good—whether by integrating a permanent fundraising aspect into a business or developing shorter-term projects and campaigns to show support for causes we believe in.

Sarah Bayot, founder of Kicheko will be joining us on the couch to chat about how she's used her business to support a cause dear to her—sending children to school in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kicheko customers provided scholarships for 1,577 months of schooling last year alone!).

We'll also be discussing smaller scale efforts, especially in light of the surge of fundraisers happening in the creative community in recent months. It leaves us with a lot of questions to pose to each other and to you: how do we choose causes that align with our brands? How do we decide what our contributions will look like? How do we involve customers without alienating? Do we separate politics from our work or are they inherently inseparable?

This is a morning event, so we'll have coffee and a light breakfast.
